...is because I feel that this weekend, in particular, is a "tough" one as is any "holiday" weekend or time period.
People are running all over, having cookouts, making lavish meals or maybe simple ones. But whatever the case may be, you may NOT feel like being a part of the "festivities".
Maybe for you, it's a painful and depressing day. Now, I am not advocating "holing yourself up" inside your house and doing nothing. That is NEVER a good idea IF you are simply depressed and lonely. If you feel "ok" but are a bit down or depressed, sometimes you NEED to push out.
If that is the case, just try to get yourself interested in others and possibly make or bring a dish that you enjoy. Taking the time to purchase or make something, bring it to the cookout, and then visiting with friends and/or relatives can be very healthy and can get you our of your own "head"!
HOWEVER, if you are in pain and going out is too much to bear, then do not do it. Get yourself comfortable, watch a TV show you enjoy, or a movie or read a great book. Have your own little "feel better" session. Don't feel GUILTY about not attending the "event", just take care of YOU.
Remember, we need to take care of ourselves. We need to be our own 'best friend'. The point is not to feel pressure whatever you decide. There are other days and other ways to show that you are still a friend or a family member.
I want to remind you that, even if people don't understand your needs, YOU DO! You know what works best for you. DO THAT!
So, on this extended Labor Day weekend in the US do what YOU need to do to feel YOUR best. I used to feel obligated to "host" things on every single holiday. Well, things happened in our family to change that (family squabbles and such!) and now I realize how much pain and sacrifice I had made just to "keep up appearances". I remember the set up, hosting and clean up leaving me in such a FLARE that I thought I'd faint until I got to sit and put my throbbing feet and legs up. We've all been there.
Don't go there again!
Until later...
Be your own blessed self....... : )
