Fibro friends, more good news about that "E" word again... : )

I'm a huge advocate for exercise, though, as I mentioned in a former post, I'm looking for a new way....indoors or super "early" in the morning, to do my workout. We (Fibromites) all need a gentle workout to keep us from "gelling" or stiffening up and strengthening a bit.

I just found this bit of information that was HUGE to me about "resistance training".......

Health Tip of the Day
"Getting Fit. . . One Step at a Time"

A study at Harvard Medical School has shown that
progressive resistance training can be effective
in reducing depression.  Working out with weights
releases endorphins, which are hormones that
improve your sense of well-being.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that, to me was good news. NOW, what I DO NOT want you to do is go and pick up a 10 lb. weight (sorry for those of you on metric, I realize it's exhausting to deal with US people still using lbs!?)  and start pumping away. Reason I DO NOT want you to do this is that by tomorrow or even the next day, you will be so sore that you'll live to HATE ME. ; )

You need to start out small. If you are as weak as I was, at the beginning, I took two small soup cans and did my reps.

I will come up with a short and comfortable plan for you but I must do my research first. I know what works for me, but I'd rather get something from a CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) that will start you "light" so that you won't be in MORE pain, but that will, over time, build the strength that will prevent pain.

I love the part about "reducing depression"....I don't know one of us that cannot do with that help!

So, if you don't want to wait for any info (a workout source) from me. You can Google, starting a "progressive resistance training program". You should get some results. BUT REMEMBER, check with your doctor first if he hasn't advised you to exercise. IF he HAS, go lighter with the weights than they say in the article you find.

Please take it easy. Have a wonderful day.....

Until later......

Blessings.......

Mo M.
