Fibro friends - I feel very strongly about this....

Dear Fibro friends, it's late again here on the East Coast of the US. I'm a bit down, but if I get this way at night, I usually resort to reading a book that I'm enjoying as I drift off to sleep.

So, I sometimes get a last minute idea from God about what to write at this time of night. This is one of those nights....

I ask you my dear Fibro sufferers, and PARTICULARLY those of you who are on disability income/not working, to be very, very smart with your money.

- Do not spend more than you receive every month.
- Make sure, if you haven't already, to accumulate an "emergency" fund no matter how small the amount is that you can save.
- As mentioned above, do not go into debt, if AT ALL POSSIBLE. This means, no using credit to purchase clothing, jewelry, makeup, etc. If you need to pay a doctor's bill and they are threatening collection AND you cannot get the money from ANY other place, certainly this may be your only option. If your refrigerator breaks down and you HAVE no emergency fund, you'll need to use credit. Emergency car repairs are the same type of thing. Whatever you do, if you can avoid it, AVOID DEBT AT ALL COSTS.
- Be very careful with purchases at the grocery store. Use coupons, buy in bulk (if you can afford it). Be smart about what you buy. If you're on a tight budget, cookies aren't part of the food budget, nor is candy. Those are treats for when you a bit of extra money. They will not make you healthy and won't help your Fibro at all.
- Be smart with your money and develop a monthly budget. It's good to use the internet because if you try to come up with your own budget, you may miss a category and this can present a huge problem and leave you thinking you have more money than you do.
- Do NOT take out one of those "quick $1000" loans that you see on TV or the internet. They are no different and, in some cases, worse than credit cards with their high interest rates. PLEASE try another route. Cash in change that you've kept  in a jar, ask a family member for a loan, but don't get  yourself into something where the interest is impossible for you to pay back, much less the actual amount borrowed.

Please do not make the mistake of getting your "emotional" lift from purchases you'll make. Find another way to make yourself feel good. Talk to a friend. Take a walk in the sunshine. Write down your feelings.

Until you have any extra money, don't spend what you do not have.

Times are difficult and they might not get any easier any time soon. BE SMART WITH YOUR MONEY NOW AND you won't suffer later on.

I am praying that you'll read this if you need to tonight. The last thing I want is for any of you to end up "short" of income at the end of the month. It is a horrible feeling.

Protect your money and do the smart thing now.

You'll thank me for it later!

Until next time.....

Blessings......

Mo M.
