I totally understand that. Although I sometimes get compliments on how positive and upbeat I can be, I DO have my days.
Today was one of them.
Trust me, my Fibro friends, in spite of our very best efforts, sometimes we just cannot get "happy" to be dealing with this silent and invisible illness.
Too many people don't understand. Those who DO understand sometimes forget. Today, for example, since I don't work I was shocked to hear my husband recommend a job to me that he had found on a job ad. site.
After the week I had last week, when I was so sick from working with my daughter two days in a row, I got the feeling that we ALL, in my family, were feeling more convinced than ever that I cannot do it.
But you question yourself constantly. Why am I such a "wimp"? Is this all in my head? Am I overreacting? Should I just "suck it up" and deal with it?
Dear friend, the answer is "NO!". Emphatically "NO!".
Please know that what you are feeling all of the pain, the weakness, the stomach issues, the headache, and all of the other symptoms that go along with this marvelous disease, are quite real and quite debilitating.
So, if were able to walk around the block yesterday, but can't walk around the kitchen table today, it's OK....simply DO NOT do it.
If you're like me, this can be really depressing because I'm a "pusher" and love to walk. But I'm starting to GROW UP...after 15 years of this struggle and realize that I'm better of NOT walking in 90 degree heat if i feel this badly.
Please do not expect the world to understand. Trust yourself! However, if you need to "bounce" something off on someone else, do it here, or another site where you can share your thoughts and feelings with people who DO truly understand.
I'll take this a step further. If you're dealing with a doctor who seems unsympathetic, or isn't helping you at all, PLEASE find another. Please check everywhere. You can even "Google" Fibromyalgia Doctors.
You are not crazy, this pain is real. If you had a friend with this, what would you tell them to do? Well, it's time to do that for yourself....if you would tell them to relax and lay down, then YOU DO THAT!
We need to accept ourselves, starting today. We don't need anyone else to believe us. Simply rest and do what your body dictates.
I believe you, now it's time for YOU to start believing you too!!
Blessings....
Mo M.
