Fibro and Food - 102

So, how did you do with your list? Did you drink half of your body weight in water? Not an easy task...IF you're not used to it.

For me, the water thing would be taking my weight, 145 lbs (use metric if that's your unit of measure) and drink half of that weight in ounces. For me, that's 72.5 ounces. And if I divide that down again by 8 oz. glasses I'm over 9 glasses of water. But if you drink it out of a water bottle, those 9 glasses go quickly. Try it! I have a 20 oz water bottle and 20 oz glass that I drink out of all day. Therefore, 4 of those don't sound as bad and I miss it when I don't drink.

Do you know the signs of dehydration? First of all, you shouldn't be thirsty. Of course if you ran a marathon, you're going to be thirsty, but most of us with Fibro, don't/can't do that. :)

Other signs include fatigue, anxiety, feeling "hungry", dry skin that doesn't "bounce back" but an impression of your finger stays on it, oily skin (the skin is now trying to make it's own moisture), constipation, and the list goes on. Aren't those enough for you? For me the first two and the last one...the "c" word, is enough to make me want to stay hydrated!

Now, what did you write on your list?

Here's mine:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast - steel cut oatmeal with a banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter. To that I also add, 2 oz of skim milk and a tsp. of cinnamon.

Snack - A pear and two small pieces of cheese.

Lunch - a salad with cut up fresh roasted turkey, romaine lettuce, extra virgin olive oil and white balsamic vinegar. I add sea salt and fresh pepper.

Snack - I usually don't need one, but if I do, I try to combine fruit or veggie with some protein.

Dinner - Turkey burger without a bun, pickle slices, large sweet potato, a pat of butter, sea salt, and the salad mentioned above without the turkey.

Desert - Strawberries - 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup and then a tablespoon of peanut butter with 15 dark chocolate chips mixed in. I usually drink about 12 oz of skim milk with this dessert.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does your list look like?

Oh, and what did I drink? I had about 75  oz of water with ice and 12 oz of milk. HOWEVER, I also had an 8 oz cup of coffee in the morning. The first thing I try to drink in the morning is water, but quite often it is black English Breakfast tea. I need something "hot" to get my mind awake. : )

Now, compare my list to yours. Mine might seem boring. It isn't to me.

But let me ask you a question...and then I'll ask you again to do your list for ONE more day, along with the water requirement.....

So the question is.... Do you eat to live or do you live to eat?

Ponder that thought as we move on to Fibro and Food 103.....

Until tomorrow morning.....for the next installment.....

Blessings....
