something that I've been struggling with my "discipline" on, to try and make work into my morning routine.
It just so happened that my husband was asleep in the family room, so I didn't want to wake him at 8 am if he had a bad night's sleep (he's unemployed right now and having trouble sleeping for "obvious" reasons).
Instead, while my breakfast was cooking, I went into the living room with my bible and sat on the couch. For about 20 minutes or so I looked for certain passages and used the concordance. For those of you who don't know the concordance is almost like an "index" for the bible. In other words, you take a word that applies to your life such as, discipline. Look up discipline in the concordance (in the back of the bible) and it will tell you all of the scripture that contains that word. You can use it as a guide to pray. I love it.
I realized then, after that 20 minute + period of time, that I should probably get ready after I checked breakfast. I also realized that after that period of time, I felt...well, lighter somehow. Maybe I could call it happier, more motivated, not so alone, etc. I just felt more "whole". I wanted to move forward with my day. I felt calmer too. I didn't feel rushed or "put upon" by "having" to take a friend out for coffee at 9am.
I challenge you to try this. Try to spend the first 15 or more minutes after you arise, while you wait for breakfast to cook, coffee to brew, whatever, with the Lord and in the "Word".
Your day will be amazingly better. And, I'm going to continue this practice now and see how much better it will be in the future.
Life is good. Very good.
Blessing to you.....
Mo M.
