My first attempt at contributing to our financial success and trying to get some "meaning" back into my life was an online "data entry" business.
If you're ever tried any of these "jobs", you know that they are scams. I will not mention the name of the one I "joined" but needless to say, I cannot find the name of it anywhere, anymore.
I paid a small fee to be "hooked up" into their database and training site. Basically I typed ads all over the web for hours on end. The idea was to get someone else to sign up to do exactly what I was doing. Each time that happened, I "would" get a commission on that sale.
I think I made about $6 doing this and I couldn't collect it because you had to hit a certain number of sales before they would actually send you a check. I gave up and said I'd be smarter next time. But I had wasted time and money on this "scam" and I felt like a fool.
Unfortunately I did fall for an "MLM" type of business online shortly thereafter but they made it seem so "credible" I couldn't pass it up. I think I did actually make $12 doing that one and that was after hours, days, weeks, etc. of work. Again, a waste of money. Not a HUGE sum, but money nonetheless.
If you keep falling for the "dream" of being able to work at home with some of these "online" scams, you will end up losing every single time.
However, there are SOME of online businesses...or I should say "work at home" opportunities that ARE real, and my next post, will be about one that was real. It was real work and lots of it. As a matter of fact, it was too much of a good thing.
